This playhome was for the cutest family in Encinitas who had just purchased a home and completely renovated it from the inside out. Their vision for the playhome was something that complimented their newly designed backyard- something fresh and modern with a desert vibe so we called this particular project Palm Springz with a “z” because their son’s name is Dez. From their questionnaire that they submitted to us, we learned that Dez loves Legos and Syd loves to draw. I definitely wanted to incorporate some of those design elements for them. Also, we wanted to tie in the colors of their own home and even the front door into the playhome for the kids. We used all Behr brand paints in exterior flat (colors were Satin Black, Pure White, and Peach Mimosa). We also installed the saguaro cactus wallpaper to really give it that Palm Springs/desert vibe! From the lego doll house, table to draw on, tons of toy storage, and personalized photos of the kids on the wall- everything turned out awesome!
If you’re curious at all about the process of ordering one of our Mini Playhouse, it’s pretty simple. In fact, one of our families said they wanted to do it all over again because it was so fun. Here’s the process in a nutshell.
- We schedule a walk-through and consultation with you/your family to talk about dimensions, theme of home, paint colors, etc.
- We’ll put together a mood board (similar to the one above), cost estimate, dates for install and agreement for your approval based on our initial consultation.
- Myself (the designer) and Aaron (our carpenter) will work behind the scenes in getting everything ready for install!
- Install takes anywhere from 2-3 days depending on the size of your home. Since everything is prepped and cut ahead of time, installation on site is pretty minimal. The most time consuming process is paint and decor.
- It’s all done and ready for play!
